I'm With You
Silk Textures' 10th release comes from one of the label's most celebrated artists, Shingo Nakamura. The native of Sapporo, Japan has quickly become an internationally recognized force in progressive, with various top 100 tracks on Beatport this past year, including his last Silk contribution (the stunning remix of "Yesterday's Tears"). The new original here, "I'm With You," displays his deeper, more pensive side; yet, the track is no less sophisticated and "compositional" as his melodic, uplifting work. A cavernous bassline, along with vox stabs and gorgeous piano side melodies, carry the first half of the tune. In the breakdown, Shingo's piano work really shines, especially in combination with the atmospheric pads. Silk Textures mainstay Nick Stoynoff, who has been on quite a roll in recent months with offerings on the esteemed Black Hole and Baroque imprints, serves up an even more chilled interpretation. As is customary for the talented Amercian producer, his mix is rife with subtle melodies and atmospheric effects. The result is a more "classic" deep house rendering from one of the veritable modern leaders of the genre. Finally, Luiz B., whose recent work has been supported by the likes of Jaytech and Solarstone, offers a more upbeat take. A funky bass and lead synth kick the groove off early, as traces of the original synth melodies can be heard in the background. In the breakdown, the extremely talented Brazilian artist honors the original by maintaining the main piano riff, albeit enhancing it with ebullient new synth lines of his own.
