'Assured' 'Assured' is a collection of nine songs designed to be used in congregational worship settings. It is contemporary in nature, but offers a diverse range of song styles, from upbeat "rock" tunes like the anthemic 'We Will Stand' and driving 'The Lord Is My Shepherd' to songs such as 'Precious Jesus' and 'How Wondrous, How Glorious' that have strong connections to classic hymns in their lyrical and musical style. All songs attempt to capture the grace and mercy of God in the midst of humanity's sin and rebellion. The words of theologian Gordon Fee that state, 'Show me a Church's songs and I'll show you their theology' helped to shape the lyrical content of the album which aims to rise above songs valued purely for their emotional appeal to something that also engages the mind of the listener. The story behind 'Assured' The 'Assured' album began as a 'little bit of recording' and quickly grew into a 2+ years project. Engineer Michael Clisdell offered the Soulution studio to record a demo of a few of Tim's songs which were being used at the 'Connect' service at Campbelltown City Baptist Church (CCBC) at the time. A few guide tracks were laid down one night then Michael and good friend Jonathan Fripp went to work. Bits and pieces of time and a steady stream of willing volunteers playing guitars, percussion and the like slowly but surely transformed the rough demo into a full studio album. Songs that had traditionally been played with a three-piece band, or solo, now had multiple guitar tracks, percussion, keyboard, strings and backing vocals. Georgia Downes provided some much needed harmonies to a number of tracks and helped to add an essential element to some of the stronger songs, as well as those that were more reflective in nature. Joel Del Castillo was flown into Sydney from Melbourne for a lightning visit to take care of the photography and to aid in the design of the album which proved to be an excellent fit for the feel and 'spirit' of the 'Assured' project. He also helped to nail down the album title on a trip from Sydney back to the studio after the photo shoot (a man with many talents!). Finally, Don Bartley from Benchmark Mastering was hired to master the album. Don's extensive experience in the music industry with artists such as Alanis Morissette, Silverchair and Missy Higgins helped to put the finishing touches on the album.
