Two unrelated stories of young people struggling with anxiety was the impetus behind the first Prayerful Improvisations CD. I thought, “What if I could somehow capture aglimpse of God’s peace and comfort in music? Could it help others find rest in Him?” Since its release, God has moved and inspired through the music on Prayerful Improvisations in ways beyond my abilities or comprehension. Along with countless individuals, this music has reached people in Hospice centers, Alzheimer’s units, nursing homes, senior centers, and independent caregivers as well as various ministries and missionaries around the world. The album was my first to be added to Pandora internet radio as well as Whisperings solo piano radio and SoloPiano.com. The album received nominations for 2014 Album of the Year by Whisperings solo piano radio and 2014 Christian Solo Piano Album of the Year by SoloPiano.com. It has accomplished far more than anything I could ever accomplish on my own. My hope and prayer is that you will experience a tangible presence of the Holy Spirit in and through this music, and that it will speak to you in the “quiet place.” May God grant you peace and rest from your busy day, even if just for a few moments, so that you might hear His still small voice and be taken up into the heavenly realms to enjoy this moment in time to the fullest. Love to you all... What is Prayerful Improvisations? Prayer is speaking to God, as your closest, most faithful friend. It is not necessarily a planned conversation. It is improvised. A spontaneous dance. As thoughts permeate your mind, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you have the opportunity to engage with the Creator of the universe! Incredible. Improvisation, in musical terms, is a spontaneous creation of original music within a given structure. It’s not just playing notes at random, although some might say this is improvisation. A foundation is provided (although this can be improvised, too) and music is created on the spot based on that foundation. The structure may be a chord or pattern of chords, a thematic or rhythmic idea, or simply a particular key or musical texture. Prayerful Improvisations seeks to merge these two ideas into one musical worship experience.
