Valpy's debut outing on Skeleton is a testament to his mood-heavy production approach, with three mind-bending tracks. The opener boasts atmospherics of titanic proportions aided by a subtle groove and cavernous percussion. Chords nodding to days gone by make an appearance which is evident throughout the whole EP, and then juicy bass stabs make the earth shatter. The Light comes in on a more stomping angle, using grinding, off-kilter hats for momentum while a menacing bassiline and industrial overtones make things just a little more bleak. The closing track is the most straightforward for the three, featuring squelchy low end, a more bouncy rhythm section and, of course, more chord action.
