All That Jazz, Vol. 106: "Ring Them Harmonics" - Charlie Byrd & Friends (Feat. Stan Getz)
Unplugged! That's the secret of Charly Byrd's very specific guitar sound. His earliest and strongest musical influence was nobody else than Django Reinhardt, the famous Belgian-French gypsy guitarist. As a reference to "Django" we hear two splendid titles that are related to him: "Django" by John Lewis and the most popular of all Django Reinhardt Compositions: "Nuages". Charly Byrd plays in Trio formation, accompanied by his friends Ketter Betts on bass and Buddy Deppenschmid on drums. On three titles another friend, Stan Getz, joins in playing what is called the bossa nova style in jazz. 15 formidable and thrilling titles from the golden age of jazz in a careful and new 24 Bit HD Remaster. Enjoy!
