Kinder is a collaborative song between London-based R&B singer-songwriter Sylvia Yau and Berlin-based beatmaker FloFilz. Yau sings about the insightful reminiscing thoughts of a generation working to be the change: the one that demands kindness to the generation after us as a radical example of compassion and empathy. Yau further writes on this record, reflecting on this example of empathy between generations. “Kinder is a song about being kinder than the generation before us. I wrote it with my friend Flo [FloFilz] and it came from a conversation about our childhoods,” said Yau. “The word ‘Kinder’ has a double meaning. Flo, being German, pointed out that the word ‘kinder’ in German translates to ‘children’. As a song of the future, it felt right when the connection stuck.”
