Twister were and still are the original indie popsters who were one of the best bands that never made it from the 90s britpop era. Their first album, Mums, Dads and Ladyboys was released on Damaged Goods in 2000. Prior to that, Twister toured the country and hysterically risqué frontman Matt's live antics earned them a cult following for those who truly got their live set. The follow up album, a staggering 17 years later sees the original line up in a more mature setting, but never losing their cheeky glam, punk, pop roots. Mums, dads and ladyboys reviews: This will always be one of my favourite albums of all time. The majority of these songs would have been hit singles back in the 70's. Think Undertones, Buzzcocks, Sparks, The Sweet,..... Perfect pop!!! Hysterically risque singer Matt's live antics, complemented by the bands accomplished power pop, conveys rather well to the studio on the whole. Unfortunately, by the time the album was finally released around 2000 the band were, sadly, rarely still gigging. This still sounds great today so if you like your pop served with guitars and a sprinkling of humour, this is definitely for you. ---------------------------- Twister were one of my fave bands to come out of England. They should of been as big as any band in Britain at the time. I must've seen these live at least 10 times & what a great live act they were. There is not a crap track on here, every song is a standout track. Do yourselves a favour & listen to the song clips & then invest in this amazing cd. You wont regret it. And if you love this cd then look up the singles 'Its a dogs life', 'teenage pregnancy' & 'the clap'. The B sides are awesome aswell plus 'the clap' isnt on the album. ---------------------------- Saw Twister a few times in a London then we started traveling to Aylesbury to see them at a pub called The Hop Pole (I think they all came from Aylesbury apart from one of the guitarists who was Chinese). This album is excellent, not a duff track on it.
