The essence of Roots: musical stories by this (pop) folk band, with roots in Dendermonde, intending to amaze, inspire and overjoy people once again! The band played for the first time as Roots at the M’eire Morough folkfestival in 2010. In March 2011 the group recorded its demo, Back to Barley. Since March 2014 Roots has been introducing its debut album Point Blue to the public. The album was recorded and produced by Erwin Libbrecht (Kadril) under the Wild Boar Music label. Roots found its “roots” in Irish and Celtic circles. The dynamic ensemble of 8 musicians has totally different musical backgrounds: folk, jazz, classical music… It probably is this symbiosis of influences that gives the band its unique sound. With a pretty extensive set of instruments (guitar, bass, drum, mandolin, violin, accordion, flute, vocals, etc.) the band makes (folk) music appealing to a wide audience.
