Two guitarists Ben Sher and Rowan Robertson join forces on this unique recording. Sher, a master jazz guitarist from New York, is most known for his critically Brazilian Jazz releases on BGI Records: TudoBem and Please Take Me to Brasil, which feature Luciana Souza, Kenny Barron, Fred Hersch and a host of other allstar musicians. Robertson is a West Coast English rocker most known for his work with Dio. For this recording producer Bruce Goldsmith had the idea to blend their two styles. Whether revisiting some familiar pop hits ( I Shot the Sheriff, Spooky), with some contemporary harmonies, exploring the classic guitar instrumental Freeway Jam, with a new Afro-Cuban jazz feel, premiering a new work, Skydog, a tribute to Duane Allman, or simply letting the 'jam fly' on some tried and true rockers like Down By the River, Retrolution delivers some fresh perspectives that really rock!
