The pianist's technique is formidable as he improvises around his themes; though none of them are particularly memorable, he frequently shows his playful side and is obviously influenced by a host of pianists, including Art Tatum and Bill Evans. The romping "Blues No. 1" is a showpiece reminiscent of Tatum, while the Evans-like lyricism is present on the impressionist ballad "Do You Dig Debussy?" Released initially by a Czechoslovakian label in 1978, this session was also at least briefly available as a VWC CD.
