Canut Reyes is one of the most unique gipsy singers and one of the pillars of the famous Gipsy Kings, this album is a tribute to his father Jose Reyes, famous singer of Cante Jondo (in Andalusian folk music it means "deep song", and is considered the deepest form of vocal expression in flamenco), style which Canut is keeping alive today. This album originated in a collaboration between Canut and the brothers Gildas and Jean-Baptiste Boclé while they toured as bassist and keyboardist with the Gipsy King, where they started to jam and write songs with Canut while on the road in Japan ( "soledad" was recorded and mixed on a laptop computer in a Hotel room in Tokyo..) , the brothers brought to the project the richness and diversity Canut wanted to highlight , they both have a strong composing and arranging background as well , which is obvious in the pieces that include a symphonic string ensemble. The singular voice of Canut , supported by rich and unexpected compositions and arrangements , recorded between Tokyo , Paris , Arles , New York and Brno , make this album a journey into Canut's poetic and dreamlike universe.
