This album is amazing.It shows a different type of soul singer. One who is throaty,gutsy and gravelly (most females follow in the tradtion of Aretha or Diana ross). Thisa album shows all of her dimensions. It show hers soft side on songs like "Drift Away", her rock'n'roll raucousness on "Proud Mary" the grity gut buckett R&B; "I idolise you" and the sexyness"I've been lovin you too long". The ballad "A love like yours" is a stand out. It shows not only her tender kittenish side, it shows her roots in gospel. One listen will send shivers up your spine and a tear to your eye. If you like true soul, raw, unrestrained,intense and spine chilling you will like this album. Her vocal stylings register close to those of Anne Peebles, Millie Jackson,Gladys Knight and even Mary J. Blige.
