If one pianist of the Boogie-Woogie-era can be called an "influencer" this honor clearly goes to Albert Ammons, whose great impact on other artists reaches clearly up and into the 21 Century even 70 years after his untimely passing. Ammons had wide influence on countless pianists, such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Alexander, Dr. John, Hadda Brooks, Johnnie Johnson, Ray Bryant, Erroll Garner, Katie Webster, Axel Zwingenberger, Henri Herbert, and the German pianist, Jörg Hegemann. Ammon clearly is one of the greatest "Boogie Men" of all times, so we dedicate this new album to him. And to make pleasure even more perfect: On half of the tracks that are assembled here we let another great Boogie Pianist join in: Pete Johnson is a congenial partner when it comes to playing the Boogie on two pianos.
