Loch Lomond - Celtic Whistles Collection Vol.7
"Loch Lomond" is one of Scotland's most beloved folk songs. The title "Loch" means "lake" in Gaelic, making it the "Song of Loch Lomond," set against Scotland's largest lake, Loch Lomond. It stems from the Jacobite Rising of 1745, where the rebels were defeated at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, and many soldiers were executed. The lyrics' "high road" and "low road" represent the path of the living and the spiritual path of the dead returning home, while "I'll be in Scotland afore ye" expresses the wish of executed soldiers' souls to reach their homeland first.
