Mansion Over The Hilltop

Mansion Over The Hilltop

Faron Young, the acclaimed country and western singer, is a unique performer who brings to the field of sacred songs an authenticity that is both fervent and sincere. He has constantly walked off with top honors and received enthusiastic praise from the nation's press. In November 1955, he was awarded the number one spot as the leading male singer by the famed 'Grand Ole Opry' on its 30th anniversary. Since that time, his fame an reputation have steadily grown in recordings and TV, in personal appearances and motion pictures. Now, to add further to his achievements, Faron Young has recorded selected sacred songs designed to please those who appreciate the best in country and sacred music. The popular I'll Fly Away leads off the roster of sacred songs as Faron, with some choral accompaniment by The Anita Kerr Singers, tells about the journey to the celestial shore where joy shall never end. Suppertime, which follows, recalls fond childhood memories and relates the story of twilight on the old homestead, as it claims kinship with the twilight of life, when we are all ready to heed the call to the greatest suppertime of them all. Then backed by The Anita Kerr Singers, Faron asks How Long Has It Been since you talked with the Lord? It's followed by a reassuring melody called Overshadowed that attributes man's share of good fortune to the fact that he's "overshadowed by His mighty love love brightens all the way." The dream of a joyful tomorrow is carried forth in the title tune, Mansion Over The Hilltop, which closes Side One. In their devoted rendition, Faron and The Anita Kerr Singers reveal an innermost hope for that bright land where one never grows old, never wanders and always walks on streets paved with gold. Faron Young and the blended voices of The Anita Kerr Singers invite you to come along and join the band in the cheerful selection that opens Side Two, Traveling On. Up next is the beautiful ballad with an inspirational message The Shrine Of St. Cecilia. From here, the music moves on to the Beautiful Garden Of Prayer a floral Paradise that glows with the light of His presence. In his interpretation Faron captures the exultant feeling of wonderful, heavenly peace. In What Can He Do, which follows, Faron and the chorus declare the glory of God through a rewarding musical rendition. The album concludes with a song that shows the deep religious faith inherent in many American folk singers, as Faron and The Anita Kerr Singers offer Now I Belong To Jesus.
