With Morning Light, Brann continues his trademark soulful house blueprint unveiling a sultry collection of songs that combine organic instrumentation with electronic ingenuity by infusing modern Afro-Latin/Balearic rhythms and radiant jazz-tinged soundscapes. The lead single "I Hear You Dreaming" has a warm texture to it with dreamy chords, introspective lyrics and a rapturous melody (check out remixes by Larry Heard and Cottonbelly on the 12" release). Tracks like "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss," "Rain Down," and "Secrets," have strong cross-over potential striking a perfect balance between underground and mainstream, while the compelling Marvin Gaye-inspired "Justice, Mercy" reveals the group's more cerebral pursuits.
