Land Below Waves
I teamed up with my good friend Dirk Freymuth in 1990 to record "Land Below Waves." The basis of this piece is a hypnotic groove for two guitars, with melody on viola da gamba and flute, giving a sound from a previous era. "Land Below Waves" was never released - a horrible unethical record label (back then, they were the only way to get your music out there) was slated to release it, and abandoned us at the end, to my everlasting gratitude. Now, many years later, I'm releasing selections from this recording session as an archive from my past. Since they are from an earlier time, the sound is not current, but I did my best using modern tools to make it sound good! Thanks to Dirk Freymuth for his impeccable musicianship and inspiration in creating this piece. Instrumentation for "Land Below Waves": Andrew York - guitar, flute, bass Dirk Freymuth - guitar, viola da gamba Andrew York
