TMINUS005 is brought to us by Fresh Otis - a native of Vienna, Austria (or "not Berlin"), who many Techno fans will already be familiar with. Having released a wealth of music on labels such as Naked Lunch, Minimal Force, Hexagon, Italo Business, and many more; Otis is one of the more colorful characters in the world of Underground Techno. A man of few words, Fresh Otis prefers to let DJ sets and productions do the talking and his distinct style and love for the genre shines through on this banging signature-flavored three track EP "A Better Techno Life" courtesy of Terminus Audio. The title track "A Better Techno Life" starts things off and is easy to get lost in with a dark vibe perfect for the hot nights ahead. A powerful kick drum lays the groundwork for a killer groove here, as tropical bass washes over exotic percussion and vocal snippets and soaring synths. With a driving lead, huge drops and a thick ambience, this is definitely one to add to your Summer selection. Next is "PonyYard", the track that initially caught the attention of label boss Jason Mills for this release. This piece can be described as a no-nonsense Techno banger that rides the rails at a frenetic pace with an energy dialed in for proper dancefloor damage. A pounding reverberated kick, metallic, twisted Techno synths, sizzling cymbals and quick edits that show Fresh's sensibilities as a DJ characterize this track. A good go-to record to add a punch to your sets. Rounding off the EP, we have "Power of Dark". The name is quite appropriate as the track is - well, powerful and dark. Once again Fresh Otis clearly is in his natural element as he delivers a huge sound and groove with a seeming ease that only comes with years of experience in the studio. This record is made with the DJ in mind and features a pulsing lead line, dizzying descending keys, plus fat drums and plenty of cleverly sliced and diced samples to keep the energy level high.
