Gitano is a tribute from Canut to his father José Reyes, famous singer of Cante Jondo (in Andalusian folk music it means "deep song", and is considered the deepest form of vocal expression in flamenco), style which Canut is keeping alive today. This song originated in a collaboration between Canut and the brothers Gildas and Jean-Baptiste Boclé while they toured as bassist and keyboardist with the Gipsy King, where they started to jam and write songs with Canut while on the road, it is a powerful and melancholic piece they orchestrated and arranged around Canut's vocals. Flamenco and Orchestral colors co-exist in harmony to bring to life moments shared with José, witnessing the handing down of a great gipsy singing tradition . The piece opens with powerful vocals backed up by dark, deep and moody strings, then the palmas take over, joined by the cajon and bowed basses in 6/8 rhythm with Canut's magnificent vocal lines soaring over it, the string orchestra comes back with intensity to build up to a powerful ending.
