Mindset (born April 3, 1991), is a Canadian hip-hop artist and songwriter from Barrie, Ontario. Using music as an outlet to relieve stress and inspire, his relatable lyrics engage listeners. He began writing original songs at the age of 14 and is now a decade into the art. With a unique sound and funky up-tempo instrumentals, he is making quite an impression on lifelong hip hop fans. Mindset will be releasing his debut album entitled Pedestrian Funk early 2016, featuring some well-known local artists, producers, and graphic designers. The album has a funky hip hop feel reminiscing of the 90s. Pedestrian Funk will be available in 2016 along with a follow up CD entitled Heart on Paper being released the same year. In past years Mindset has opened up shows for some of hip hops greatest names including, Raekwon of the Wu Tang Clan and Black Sheep. In 2014 he joined forces with another local artist named Spenny to form the group Poetik Civilianz. Mindset and Spenny can also be found on a non for profit mixtape entitled The Plaides Project released digitally in 2014 alongside numerous other artists. After writing his first song, a dream to make a living in the music industry was born. 2016 will mark the release of two or more long awaited projects sure to gain some traction (Pedestrian Funk, Heart on Paper). The future is looking bright for this young talent and I am sure hip hop fans will know the name Mindset before long.
