Yonnas Abraham, or Yo!, as he is affectionately referred to, is a hip-hop artist like none before him, and hopefully many more after him. Leader of two uprising bands, The Pirate Signal a mellifluous, genre-bending hip-hop group that seamlessly melds the easily accessible pop music construct with the complex and difficult nature of high-art, and BLKHRTS, a gut-wrenching, guttural wail of hardcore hip-hop crew that also manages to match pop art with more ambitious impulses. As main producer for both, Yonnas stratifies himself into these separate structures flawlessly, channeling all of his inspirations and desires where they fit best, while never losing a step of ground for either. Now though, he slices himself further preparing his first ever solo endeavor. A multi-media piece entitled #SEXTAPE, Yonnas explores primal sexuality, love and loss, and his own most terrifying demons and fears with a musical project that blends seductive pop songs and a series of photos and videos that capture sexual intercourse in the most striking way possible, all in the noble pursuit of tearing through this new human barrier of technology and rampant media output, to just make you feel something, anything, that returns you to your most natural basic human sensations, hunger, fear, and love.
