Before leaving Chattanooga Tennessee to pursue a masters degreee in jazz & latin druming, Nate Smith joined with high-school friend and fellow musician Adam Swafford to write a rock album. The two had crossed musical paths frequently but never had the opportunity to create and record together until the summer of 2009. Two weeks of jamming, one week of songwriting and about 5 days of recorded resulted in the 10-track album entitled "Preface", released under the band name "Musicians". The album is a riff-laden and heavy drum filled experience with light acoustical touches from Adam Swafford.
