"5AM" is a meditative pop song that gently embraces reality with the image of a sleepless night at 5 in the morning. From the upcoming album, scheduled to release later this year, Maika Loubté announces the release of her new single "5AM" on April 2, 2021. The lyrics are written by Maika's brother, Keisei Loubté. The beat is made by zach, an artist from New York who is currently unaccounted for. The artwork on the cover is a painting by Naoko Yamane, a Japanese illustrator and artist based in Berlin, Germany. "I met zach through Instagram about 3 years ago. We continued to keep in touch, which led to us making 5AM together. After a few months of communicating with him, I lost contact with him and realized that all of his social media accounts and Spotify pages had disappeared and I had no idea where he was. The only thing I had left were some of the beats he had sent me, and although I was at a loss for a while, I decided to just finish the song with the beats we worked on. About a year later, there was a time when many things happened to my family and I realized how fragile life is. At the time, I often listened back to the "5AM" demo, but the words didn't flow out easily, and I couldn't write the lyrics. So I asked my brother, who had experienced the same series of events, to write the lyrics, and he came up with the words that were surprisingly amazing... I think I was able to create a song that gently embraces reality with the image of being unable to sleep at 5 in the morning in the midst of the relationships and separations, beyond my imagination."
