Island Man

Island Man

"Gotta Take a Chance" is about getting what you want. "Different Lines" is about choices lovers make. "Tough Love" is about drug addiction. "Neanderthal" is autobiographical. "Island Man" is about longing. "Gotta Find Your Tempo" is about a game. "Tomcat Blues" is about Tomcats. "My First Hero" is about a singing cowboy. "Bad Attitude" is about the opinions of others. "Remembering You" is about growing up in a musical house. This CD and Jack Turner are about first rate songwriting and production. Jack's bio: Recorded and released John Lovick Turner "Rookie Of The Year" 1973 on Polydor Records. "Rookie" got top reviews in Zoo World, and Billboard, had great LA session players Larry Carlton, Dean Parks, Leland Sklarr, Larry Knechtel, Ed Greene, and others. Jack's military service at the height of the Vietnam War made it virtually impossible to tour however, and the album didn't sell well enough to warrant a follow up. In 1976 Jack wrote and performed President Jimmy Carter's Clio award winning campaign song "Why Not The Best". In 1982 he wrote one of Barbara Mandrell's only Adult Contemporary hits "Sometime, Somewhere, Somehow". In the late 80's and early 90's Jack was a regular contributor to the very popular Jazz Flavors radio show on 94-Q in Atlanta, and three of his songs were released on the yearly "most requested" CDs. Jazz Flavors, begun by Russ Davis in Atlanta, moved to New York with him in '92. In '96 his composition "One World" was performed in Atlanta's Symphony Hall as the finale to the IOC welcoming ceremony for the '96 Olympic Games. Jack has long been a force in commercial music, composing many award winning songs and scores for the likes of Coca Cola, Nissan, Burger King, Bellsouth, ESPN, ABC, TBS, and many others. He lives in Atlanta where he continues to try to find his tempo.
