Hold Your Head Up
Five years ago, Maiah Manser moved to Seattle to pursue a career in music. Since then, she has worked both as a solo artist, as well as with a variety of projects including: Mary Lambert (as a touring vocalist featured on Jay Leno's Tonight Show, Good Morning America, & VH-1's You Oughta Know), The Esoterics, and Pollens. Maiah began her solo career playing for EMPs Sound Off! 2013 competition. In Sept 2014, her song 'Hold Your Head Up' was featured in City Arts Magazine's Top 5 Most Attractive Singles. Often compared to female power houses like Kate Bush, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Björk & Adele, Maiah strives to fuse the digital and the organic in every aspect of her music. Maiah is currently finishing work on her debut EP 'Second Skin' with producer Buddy Ross (Frank Ocean, Motopony). --------------------------- PRESS: "Maiah Manser has been singing and writing songs for almost all of her 23 years, but the chamber pop of “Hold Your Head Up” is built on more than commitment. Electronic drums, elegant strings and Manser’s powerhouse vocals slowly, surely explode into crescendo, a dramatic collision of melody, ambition and ability." - Jonathan Zwickle (City Arts Magazine) "Manser layers her smoky, seductive voice with electronic noises, strings, and piano, sounding at once like something coming out of a Victrola and the speakers at a Belltown nightclub." -Megan Seling (The Stranger) "Manser can really belt a tune. On these three tracks, she pulls out some unlikely combinations by pairing her exquisite voice with unique backtracks—for instance, a jazzy ballad with a hint of electro." -Ashley Roe (Seattle Weekly) --------------------------- CREDITS: Produced by Maiah Manser, Damon Christopher Moore and Terence Ankeny (Zoolab) Engineered and Mixed by Damon Christopher Moore assisted by GG Reynolds at Electrokitty Sound Studios Violin/Viola courtesy of Chandra Johnson Composition/ String arrangements/Lyrics/Vocals/Synth/Samples by Maiah Manser Mastered by Branden Clarke (IG88)
