The record features seven original songs and three covers (by Lennon/McCartney, Bob Dylan and elusive rogues Roky Erickson and Clementine Hall from Austin's legendary Thirteenth Floor Elevators). While David plays most of the instruments and sings all of the songs, he was fortunate enough to be helped by some of his favorite artists. Rick Derringer, Chris Spedding, Will Lee and Charlie Torres contributed lots of guitar and bass; singers Kati Mac and Sherryl Marshall join him on two songs, and the absolute best rock and roll drummer in the world--Steve Holley--holds it all together. After being twice frustrated with his experience with the major labels, this record was written, recorded and released on his own terms. "It sounds great--Doug achieved masterful results in his mixing wonderland. We had a roomful of incredible toys--in fact, we used the actual preamps that Abbey Road was recorded with. That was a geeky thrill for me. But, overall, working with Doug Maxwell was a thrill in itself. He has amazing ears--like a schnauzer, I think.
