Cadillac Blue is a selection of Eric's new and older songs written to be taken in collectively, designed to evoke the sound and feel of 70's and 80's rock and roll. Silver Train starts with a steady driving beat that grabs you as it passes and pulls you down the track on the back of a searing lead guitar. Haunting, sad, and melancholy, Lafayette tells the story of a broken relationship, broken hearts and the impossibility of returning to what once existed. The title track, Cadillac Blue is a throwback to the days of Elvis, fast women, expensive cars and questionable behavior. The track is the centerpiece of the album and was the first of the tunes penned for the collection. Unforgettable Part 3 is a familiar story about a guy who falls in love at first sight. Rockville is nothing less than a breathless, jangled race through well-known places in a town, riding with a bunch of guys who believe they've just stepped out of Saturday Night Fever. The influence of the 80's is captured in Unforgettable Parts 1, 2 and 3. The long intro evolves slowly from bluesy solo guitar to a guitar/piano duo, ultimately falling effortlessly and finally into the body of the song. Written separately, these six tunes work together to paint an image of a unique place and time. Eric Norman is a classically trained guitar-player, singer/songwriter. His playing is complex, nuanced and sophisticated – and perfectly matches his direct songwriting. His playing is often compared to legends that include Ry Cooder, Mark Knofler, JJ Cale and namesake Clapton. Eric creates vivid images and tells stories through his songs. He takes us on journeys with him on paths constructed out of absolutely flawless playing.
