In the late-1980s, we made music together. We were a little band from Rome, Georgia. We were teenagers and wrote songs with titles like “Tonsils,” “Vacation in Greenland,” and “The Tree Song.” We made cassettes of our songs for our friends, and we only played four live shows. We bought our instruments at the pawn shop on Broad Street and recorded everything using an old boombox. It was great. But time flies. Before we knew it, 21 years had passed by, and we were spread out all over the map. In early 2011, we just started again. It was that easy. Shawn and Andy saw each other in Boston when Shawn was touring with Connor Christian and Southern Gothic. They discussed revisiting some of the old songs, just to get decent versions recorded finally. A few weeks after that, Andy sent Wesley an idea for a new song called “ATL87.” From there, everything just clicked. Six months and hundreds of emails later, we’ve written five new songs together. We still haven’t redone any of the old ones.
