Pilot had hits in the 1970s with Magic, January and Just a Smile. They were also the backbone of The Alan Parsons Project and all of Pilot appeared on the first two Project Albums. David Paton (vocals and Bass) continued with the project for 10 years until he quit to join the Elton John Band. Ian Bairnson continued with the APP for 15 years.
