Drew Blackwell is from the Mississippi town of Macon. His mother is a gifted pianist and he and his sisters all have a ear for music and can sing!! He started learning his way around the guitar at the young age of 14, influenced by his Uncle Doug, mentored and inspired to write and feel the blues by the great Willie King. Drew along with his good friend and fellow artist Caleb Childs began The Old Memphis Kings in 2004. They have since continued to share the soul behind the blues king that brought them together. Courtney grew up in Wa state and comes from a musically gifted family, at the age of 4 she was taught and began taking lessons in classical cello by Dr Wharton, a cello/bass professor at the University of Idaho. In the past 3 years, since moving to the south. she has really focused on changing the way the cello is used in ensembles , now she prefers folk, blues, and bluegrass styles and has really refined her playing to allow herself to sing while playing.
