David J. Brinston is an American Recording Artist who has made a significant contribution to Southern Soul (blues) and R&B music. David was born in Marks, Mississippi and later relocated to Clarksdale, Mississippi where he grew up and was educated in the public schools. He grew up in a family of twelve brothers and sisters, and a father and mother who instilled in him a strong work ethic and family values. David is the third oldest brother and the only sibling to choose a professional music career. He and his siblings formed a gospel group and performed at Churches and local events in the Mississippi Delta. David was the lead vocalist. In 1990, David decided to seek a music career with the support and encouragement of his family. He relocated to Memphis, TN and landed a recording contract with Jomar Records. This partnership produced his first hit single “Love Maker.” David ultimately became a world-renowned blues recording artist and went on to record “Hit and Run” his first Album and “Slow Down from the Run Around” also released on Jomar Records. He later recorded the” Two Way Love Affair” that secured David’s place as a chart maker. His latest CD “Beat It Up” is steadily climbing the charts. David tours and headlines numerous large sacle events to include the Spring Fling in Mobile AL, Sunflower Blues festival in Clarksdale, MS- sponsored by the Clarksdale Blues Museum, and other venues such as the City of Lafayette, Louisiana’s Mardi Gras Parade. The Mississippi State Legislature enacted legislation to establish historical markers across the state to recognize blues artist from Mississippi who have made significant contributions to Southern Soul music. In 2010, David was recognized by the Mississippi Blues Commission with the presentation of a historical marker in his hometown of Clarksdale, MS; shared with the legendary Mr. Sam Cooke. He is currently an indie artist, managing recordings with Delta Down Studios in Florida and working on his new CD, "It's Gonna Be A Showdown" to be released on 1 Oct 12. David is married and lives with his wife Terry on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
