The debut album from Sound/s/lab, Empirical State, was recorded in bursts over a period of year, the sound of the machines dominated as synths took over the raw pop songs being crafted. Harking back to the darker origins of synth pop for its influence, the album took on a present day harder sound to avoid mere retrospection. This is not a revival, it's a new start.
