"Meanderings", the second release for Bill Johnson, was created much in the same way as was his first CD "Above Cloud 9". It consists of improvised tracks with one thing in mind, relaxation. This is the perfect music for getting away from it all. A unique difference here, is track #3, "Through The Night", which is very meditative and tranquil, yet it departs from the other songs which feature piano tracks that were all improvised and "made up" while they were recorded on the first take. Track #3 is a layered type of Midi orchestration, with blended instruments featuring a soft horn, a Xylophone, and other soothing Midi sounds to create a peaceful soundscape that is quite unique. This song started from a single improvised background synthesizer track, and other improvised instruments were layered in one by one after that. This is just the kind of music for people that want to get away from the same-old, sterile, predictable, "cookie-cutter" music that is so much a part of the music that is being made these days.
