Described by the Strad Magazine as a "14 year old who plays with the charm of Kreisler, the robust power of Oisrakh, and has plenty to say in his own right", Maxim Vengerov is one fo the brightest violin starts to emerge out of the Soviet Union. Born in Novosibirsk, the capital Western Siberia, on 20 August 1974, Vengerov began to play the violin at 5 and won Fist Prize in the Junior Wieniawski Competition at the age of ten.
