Marilyn is singing the life she’s living. Her music is reflective of her faith. There are no pretensions or illusions when she belts out, “I Won’t Let Go of My Faith”. She understands the power, greatness, and magnificence of God’s almighty presence. When she pours her soul into, “How Great Is God”, all the saints are brought to tears. She strives daily to live and walk in the word of God, because He is “More Than Enough”. Marilyn wrote, “Tell Me What You Want” as a reminder to pray without ceasing and show herself approved unto God, because. Marilyn is spreading the Good News that Jesus shall return in all His glory, and when the Father tells the Son, it’s time to come, “He’s Gonna Show Up”. “Because of His Love” and mercy, with deep, soulful expressions, she reminds you that all you have to do is call on His name, and “Free Your Soul”. She came from humble beginnings in San Francisco and burst on the scene at the shy age of five with a voice that so overwhelmed her elementary school teachers that they scrambled to find an appropriate outlet for cultivating her precious gift. Marilyn still recalls her teachers Mr. Montaro and Ms. Sullivan providing endless support and encouragement to ensure that she would continue to share her memorable voice with the world. At the age of seven, she began assisting her father who was a talented singer and a member of the gospel group, “The Silver Tones”. She was in awe of his dynamic vocal range, which she also later inherited. At the age of ten, Marilyn’s father gave her his full support when she began receiving numerous requests to sing at churches through the community. Her vocal legacy continued through her school years and into adulthood. She won talent shows, sang in plays and musicals and joined a few secular groups, including, “The Sisters From the Ghetto” who provided background vocals for various celebrities. She then committed her voice to God and walks daily in his Word as a member of Berkeley Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in California. This CD is dedicated to God’s love and mercy, and the many people who believed in her, including her parents, husband Ronald Maxwell, son Ondre’ D. Powell, daughter Tenesia Miller, stepchildren Jennifer Maxwell, Omar Maxwell, and Ronnie Whitaker, Pastor Rev. Brian D. Hunter, and many friends and relatives.
