"Jamaica Funk, that's what it is!" While performing at The Delft Jazz Festival in 2013, I was introduced to the incredibly gifted Ms. Joyce San Mateo, a powerful female vocalist from the Philippines who resides in The Netherlands. Her style, intonation and vocal command immediately captured my ear, and I was determined that my next recording project would introduce her to a much wider audience. Many (if not most) of the musicians who have passed through my bands early on have gone on to become outstanding players in their fields. This would include such luminaries as Marcus Miller, Bernard Wright, Bobby Broom and Tonni Smith to name a few.
