The Source is an alternative music group, based in Warren Michigan, which first formed in 1985. Its musical scope ranges from psychedelic to pop to semi-deranged. Its founding members were drummer Ted Gish, and bassist, Kurt Snyder, who had previously worked together in the "classic rock" group, the Silent Wavelengths. They joined with guitarist, Curtis Shaw, and toured throughout 1985 and 1986 as a three piece group. Near the end of 1986, the group went on hiatus. Bassist Kurt then worked with the technopop group, Double Exposure playing bass, keyboard and singing; and later went on to work with the psychedelic/folk/rock group, Underwater Rain, first running sound, later doing keyboard and production work. Guitarist Curtis became involved with various other projects. Drummer Ted became involved with his wife. After Underwater Rain stopped raining, the reaction which the song "Keyboard Dan, Nikki's Man" received provided the inspiration for what would eventually become "Postcard". The album was originally conceived as a reunion project for The Source. The unavailability of Ted Gish and Curtis Shaw found drums being assumed by the multi-talented David Minnick, who had previously worked with Kurt Snyder in Double Exposure. David Manchel, who would become The Source's new lead guitarist, was a friend of the lead singer of Underwater Rain, Joe Ginis. Others contributed their talents to the recording of the album, but the line-up of The Source has essentially remained the same from 1990 to the present: David Manchel, David Minnick, and Kurt Snyder.
