Quattro Elementi is an idea of improvisation, halfway between freedom and constraint. It wants to highlight the research of an improvisational “Form” and a balance, elaborating a minimal material without a pure score, but with little outlines left to the inventive capability of the performers, who put their knowledge and culture to use in music. The capability of listening to oneself is one of the essential elements that appears from these improvisations. The affinity between the two musicians tops it all. This project tries to grow away from the North American Jazz Tradition and to take account of other perspectives, not only musical. Thought turns to the Gesture, an essential element in Quattro Elementi research on expressive possibilities and potentialities that gestures in music can have. Moreover Minus is focused on the possibility of amplifying the gestures themselves through the improvisational “moment”. Guitar and piano merge in a whole which is capable of creating quite unexpected sounds and undertaking directions both confusing and fascinating.
