Songs of the Cosmos
Inspired by 30 years of science writing by astronomer David Darling, Songs of the Cosmos explores themes like the Big Bang, dark energy, life, and death through powerfully melodic tunes that range from progressive rock to acoustic. David's books include the critically acclaimed Deep Time, Equations of Eternity, and Zen Physics. Now the same ideas at the heart of those books reappear in this new album. Songs of the Cosmos draws on various influences but most obviously on late '60s and early '70s progressive, psychedelic, and orchestral rock such as that of the Moody Blues, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd. All of the songs were written and composed by David with the exception of Epitaph (King Crimson) and Rain (Jon Heintz), and arranged by Miroslaw Hodun.
