No introduction is needed for the well known back to back duo Cally & Juice. Keeping one of the busiest diary's of any UK DJ, playing at all of the world's biggest events and festivals they are constantly pushing their brand of hard dance music to the ever appreciative clubber. Ourstyle Recordings was launched in 2005 by Welsh Wizards, Cally & Juice. The boys wanted to showcase their own brand of hard dance and hardstyle, hence the name 'Ourstyle'. Since its launch they have enjoyed great success with over a dozen releases. Most of the tracks have been written by the boys themselves but they have also featured the likes of Activator, Trance Generators and Vandall to name but a few. The Great Dictator This idea and inspiration for this track came from its vocal, which has been sampled from the 1940 movie of the same name. Directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin, it is a satire on Nazi Germany and features this powerful and thought provoking speech, which sets the tone of the track as being very powerful and anthemic. All the sounds were chosen carefully with this in mind, and the ferocious beats and heavy bassline suit the mood of the track. The main breakdown builds as the speech increases in tone and temperament, with a filtered anthemic melody building throughout. As the speech reaches its climax, a moment later the beats kick in and the powerful lead synth takes over. Although this track is predominantly hardstyle, its big uplifting undertones should appeal to fans of other hard dance genres. Drop the Beat Drop the Beat is more of a crossover track, blurring the lines between hardstyle and UK hard dance. The rhythm of the track is straight up bassline hardstyle. Perfect timing as the scene moves back towards this more palatable sound. The vocals create a fantastic groove that move along with melodies and beats, creating a superb energy. Upon the main breakdown you are taken on an amazing journey through sound. At first a big anthemic string section, which soon has heavy breakbeats dropped over the top, then just when you think it's going back to the bassline, in comes a big distorted Dutch kick which follows the melody. Then when the bassline comes back in it keeps the energy right up there until the next tune gets mixed in. Once again this track should appeal to fans of most hard dance genres.
