5-20
5-20 was written on May 20th. The date was fixated in my mind because it was a a date where my relationship with my band members was at a boiling point. I felt that we were becoming our worst critics, and slowly crippling the band's ability to develop. I felt like the glue that once tied everyone together is slowly coming apart as we seized to look at music as something that excites us, and kept changing variables to make it audience-friendly. We all played well, sounded great, but gradually became demoralized from this dynamic. This song was written for the band to remind them why we play music. Lyrics: 5-20 I try all the time To stay within the lines To keep it all intact To try and compromise But everything’s my fault And everyone’s got something to say And everyone’s got someone to blame And when everything just comes apart I can’t always be the one who figures it out I got an itch in my throat It’s not going away It’s not going away I have a dart on my tongue It’s headed right towards you It’s headed right towards you But I’m holding it in And I won’t say a thing Till you see how lucky we’ve been How did we neglect What turned us on from the start What made us who we are Our private little star But everything’s my fault And everyone’s got something to say And everyone’s got someone to blame And when everything just comes apart I can’t always be the one who figures it out I got an itch in my throat It’s not going away It’s not going away I got a dart on my tongue It’s headed right towards you It’s headed right towards you I got a handful of spite It’s pulling us apart It’s pulling us apart But I’m holding it in And I won’t say a thing Till you see how lucky we’ve been
