Jill Krachmer and I wrote this song a few years ago. We wanted to write a song that really captured the spirit of eternal love, and specifically the magic of the moment a wedding proposal happens. "You've got my heart.. everything.. let it start with this ring." A couple years after writing the tune, a close friend of mine had proposed to his girlfriend and they were making wedding plans. I had been a key (musical) part of the wedding proposal itself, and they wanted my music to be a part of their ceremony as well. I suggested maybe including "With This Ring." They loved the track and we recorded a simple acoustic version of it at Westlake Studios.. where Michael Jackson himself used to record! The recording was part of the wedding ceremony in Hawaii.. what a special moment! Fast forward another year or so, and another friend of mine was going to propose to his girlfriend. So we discussed it, he wanted music to be a part of it, and he loved "With This Ring." Ariana Hall and I serenaded the two lovers as my friend got down on one knee to pop the question! Of course she said "yes," and this song was also included in the ceremony itself. Since this song has been a big part of two incredible unions, I thought maybe it's time to really record the tune.. give it some professional justice. So Jill and I hired Luke Tozour (Grammy nominated engineer) to give the song a fun, poppy and organic sound. It's a little Jason Mraz meets Jack Johnson with some big harmonies at the end. Tim Pierce, probably the #1 session guitar player in the world, lent his talents to the track and I'll tell you.. he makes me look like a preschool amateur. Haha.
