Back through the old days there were a few musicians who played some good old time traditional blues so now and then. Through the times they drank moonshine. While doin’ that talked ‘bout the blues and how to play it right. The recipy was; a swing type of playin’ drums with a loud jazzy type of walkin’ upright bass. This must be completed with jazzy impartial jazz cords on guitar and on the 88’s. And last but not least a very blues oriënted type of vocals and solo’s on every instrument. They found out, this is not regular blues but people like to call it West-Coast Blues. Developed by great blues men like T-Bone Walker, Robert Lockwood, ‘Little’ Walter Jacobs and others. A really swing type of blues exactly right for a good dance! Later in the mid seventies good guys like James Harman, Kim Wilson, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson, Al Blake, Hollywood Fats and many others made this type of swing-blues popular in the West-Coast area in America. Today it is back right here in Holland. And the name is Sugadaddy & The Honeydrippers and they play like hell! Even without rehearsals they play new and own written songs. Al though they can’t give you an expression how they sound live, you got to experience this band goes really out of their head. They did some garage recordings with a few mic’s and try to give an impression how they sound. Sorry for the amateur recording, but hopefully you’ll dig this way of playin’ the blues West-Coast Style.
