A stalwart member of the team across the label's fluorescence has been Berlin based producer Torsten Kanzler who has appeared in amongst VAs and with his own solo EP back in 2020. Torsten's masterful approach to production and his melding hardware and software instruments generates a truly unique strand of Techno that has always sat him neatly within the milieu of Kuukou: his work packs punches whilst also possessing a warmth that makes it as kinetic as it is emotive. His 'Bulli EP' bares these qualities and head to toe is another armoured set of club tracks guaranteed to shake the foundations of the floor. The title track sets an off-kilter major / minor synth line gambolling over a heaving, subby kick. Reverb, delay and mangled filters are gently adjusted to provide a sense of space as tension steadily swells throughout. Label head Simina Grigoriu then follows up with her interpretation which compresses the track into a tight box, giving it a more intense sense of pressure as it swirls through spooky vocal snips and synth stabs. 'Afuche Cabasa' then closes up the EP with a slightly lighter touch. Sparkling tones and birdsong sonics dart over a heart wrenching low end which carry a conclusive feeling; a perfect close to a varied and effective record.
