"Neonfire" is an eclectic mix of personal original songs (plus a Dylan cover) that everyone can relate to, performed by Greg Russo (the author of the noted Frank Zappa book "Cosmik Debris") along with many artists that have either performed with Zappa or currently perform his music: Candy Zappa (Frank's sister), Nolan Porter, Napoleon Murphy Brock (Zappa's mid-'70s lead vocalist), The Tornadoes (who recorded with FZ in 1962-1963 and whose song "Bustin' Surfboards" was in the film "Pulp Fiction"), Andre Cholmondeley and Glenn Leonard from the hottest FZ cover band (Project/Object), violinist Joe Deninzon and trumpeter Dave Ballou. Lead vocals are expertly handled by Candy Zappa (5 tracks), Napoleon Murphy Brock (3), Angelo Arcario (3), Nolan Porter and Denise Russo (1 each). "Bottom Feeder" with The Tornadoes is instrumental. Greg's musical influences range from British '60s pop to the present, and "Neonfire" reflects all of that and a lot more. If you're a Frank Zappa fan, the sense of humor and solid performances make this a must for your collection. Even if you're not a Zappa fan, "Neonfire" is full of undeniable hooks. More is on the way!
