Chase the Moon
The separate instrument parts for "Chase The Moon" were written first to a chordal architecture in real music structure, with full notation (No Tab) with separate parts for each individual player in a form that allowed for total flexibility to improvise, with suggestions of the harmonic format (about 35 different chords total). The recording itself was a musical soundscape that continued on with repeated sections for over seven minutes. After listening to the entire piece, the last couple of minutes were just deleted with a fade out ending. In actuality... the entire recording could have been used, as all playing an sections were more than acceptable... however I just felt it was better to shorten the selection some. All of the recording was done as a one shot performance... with no retakes, overdubbing or patchwork... as is always my intent... to produce music that is actually recorded as on would play it... not put together as an over produced patchwork, pieced together product. The cover art was once again one of many of my original photographs, taken on a railroad track just outside of Nashville Tennessee... near Johnny Cash's home were I had the pleasure and needless to say thrill of visiting John and June in the mid 1970's. Then I added an image of myself and the image of the moon with Photoshop techniques, as well as tinting the finished image with a moonlight blue effect. Thanks for listening...Craig Smith Guitarist
