Lead vocal sung backwards then reversed for a Radiohead vibe. The first song written on Stormborn (the piano). 03 Autumn Chilled contentment. Hints of nostalgia. First trip hop / nu jazz appearance. Heavily featured piano with the driving force of steady reversed guitar from Tom Bremer. Emotive reversed vocal samples. Vibe inspired by Japanese hip hop. 04 Glass Doors 
Empty and hollow. Originally intended to be a dark electronic pop song with lyrics, here it lives instead as a solo piano track. Doubled pianos and odd harmony for creep factor. “Throwing stones at your glass doors...” 05 Alive 
Young love. Innocence. Jazz. Gritty mixed meter hip hop. Juicy horn samples from Lalo Agredano (trumpet) and Stephen Spencer (sax). Weaving in and out are blissful harp samples by Jillian Risigari-Gai, also featured alongside the piano at the outro.

Intimate yet brooding, featuring continually unfolding piano and a solitary synth element. 07 Let It Fall Introverted Passion. Journey of the soul. Three evolving sections. Piano adapted from a previous recording of an unfinished song. Synth lead and soft vocal join for a hypnotizing soli. Nod to Pat Metheny. Energy build into the end with heavily layered vocal samples resembling a jazz ensemble style. 08 Shadow Thoughts Ambient. Pensive. A little bit weird. Beautiful guitars by Lisette Zamora engineered with some glitch. Jillian Risigari-Gai returns on psaltery for a worldly flavor. Reversed vocals at play, with violin samples by Joe Sanders. Again inspired by Japanese hip hop.

The pure state of being. Insight. Joy. A feeling of transcending. Featuring a beautiful looping acoustic guitar sample from Ronnie Carrier and cello samples from Michelle Packman. Piano solo floats freely over instrumental loops, complemented by very modest vocal samples. Taking inspiration from Emancipator, ethereal and meditative. 12 Don’t Dark and dreamy. Mysterious and whimsical. String-like vocal textures build layer upon layer and evaporate into a bittersweet ending. With the return of solitary piano and vocals, the album has come full circle.
