This is a recording that was created from the spontaneous impulse of two friends to converse in the very refined, invisible and rarefied language of vibration through music. One piano in one room, another piano (with an additional keyboard on top of it) in another room. The only verbal communication was the announcement of the first chord. Everything else (energy, attention, inspiration, expression and connection) that was shared and communicated was done so through scrupulous attention to what came through each set of headphones. We had never done this before. We had no idea where it would go or for how long. We never intended to share this with the public. Afterwards, without knowing, each of us found that we were playing it daily to ourselves. And more than once per day. And for months. Soon, we converged on the first intention of this recording: releasing it to the public. It is live. It is raw yet highly refined in essence. There are places where one can hear background noises and squeaks of the piano bench. All real. All left in. In short, this record is a testimonial. A testimonial of a 42-year-old friendship full of joy and laughter and growth and pain and learning and love and inspiration and, above all, an enduring quality of brotherhood. It is a conversation, a merging and a simultaneous respect for boundaries. It is a testimonial of trust– trust to explore, share and celebrate the deepest, most intimate, most vulnerable core. It is Tantric, and if you think that means "sexual", look deeper. It is a record of the acknowledgement and reverence of the one energy, the one sacred illumination, that two nurture. It is a testimonial of gratitude of two friends, two brothers who, since adolescence, have each had the privilege of witnessing their beloved friend grow into a reflection that confirms the deepest parts of themselves.
