At the heart of the Kindred Spirit Band's sound is the voice and original songs of singer / song-writer and guitar player Elaine Samuels. The band have evolved around her and altered in peripheral band members since the mid '90s but have usually featured electric / acoustic violin, flute, sax, guitar, bass and drums. The style is labelled by the band as "Prog (folk) rock" since they are contemporary in sound more like "Curved Air" as opposed to the more traditional folk rock band like "Steeleye Span". Elaine's original songs are often deeply meaningful in a cosmic / life journey, sense and are uniquely haunting and perceptive. They have played on the bill - in various line-ups from duo to full band - at some big festivals like Glastonbury, clubs like "The Cavern Club", Liverpool and Theatres, Arts Centres as well as pubs! The Doghouse Album was originally meant to be a demo of the band's best covers and representative original numbers. It was recorded in 2005 at the Doghouse Studios, Guildford, Surrey. It was so popular with friends and fans that the band were made to release it as an album!
