Nikolayeva has given BBC Legends a sensational Bach Goldberg Variations on BBCL42282 which has become a best seller. The recitals of 1991 and 1993 now add Beethoven's Pastoral' Sonata and the great and demanding Schubert Piano Sonata D.960 which Nikolayeva never recorded commercially. Nikolayeva's recordings are very rare so for the specialist piano collector, this CD will have significant interest. Her close involvement with Bach and her friendship with Shostakovich and his music has tended to link her with Russian music so this CD showcases her in the Austrian/German classics.
